Log Home Building Process:

The first step in purchasing a log home kit or package is to figure out exactly what you want. For example, do you prefer a handcrafted log home, or a machined log home? Do you want a prefabricated log home kit, or a custom log home? Do you have plans drafted up or stock plans? Is there a particular style of log building that you prefer? Shown below is the Scandinavian full scribe method.

After you have considered all of the preliminary questions that you can think of, it's time to start collecting price quotes from builders.  Most builders will have some stock log home kit prices or guidelines from previously built homes. The more specific details that you can give to each builder, the more accurate their quote is likely to be. When you start getting quotes back from dealers they will vary in price.

Try to get as many specific details as possible back from each log building company as small differences can add up and affect the overall price quoted to you. Remember: The lowest price does not necessarily equal the best value.

After a builder has been selected, you are ready to move into the production phase. Should you choose to purchase a prefabricated log kit, production will take very little time. A custom built log package usually takes between 1 to 6 months depending on the size and complexity of your log home plans.

Your house will be built from the ground up and will evolve from just a few logs high, to full walls.
